Midget Competition Rules 2010 (updated 30/3/10)
1. (i) 5th/6th & 7th Grade games are 15 minutes each way with a 3 minute half-time break starting at 8.30am (ii) 8th Grade games are 20 minutes each way with a 5 minute half-time break starting at 9.10am
2. (i) 5th/6th Grade teams will consist of a maximum of 4 players on the field at any time, and will play on a 1/8 size field. (5 aside can be agreed if both coaches agree and there are more than 7 players in each team.) (ii) 7th & 8th Grade teams will consist of a maximum of 5 players on the field at any time, and will play on a ¼ size field.
PLEASE KEEP TO THESE PLAYING NUMBERS – THE FIELD IS TOO SMALL FOR MORE PLAYERS!
3. There are no goal keepers. This means not only that players cannot handle the ball, but that players should not stay for long periods in the goal-mouth area, particularly when the ball is at the other end of the field!
4. (i) Rolling subs (i.e. substitutes at any time) are allowed. (ii) No substitution between fields whilst a half is in progress 5. The kick-off is taken in the centre of the playing area to start the game and after a goal has been scored. The team scoring the goal will retreat to their own goal line if 5th/6th or half way between the halfway line and own goal line for 7th / 8th.
6. Goals can only be scored from inside the attacking half.
7..Goal kicks must be taken by placing the ball on the ground and kicking it. Goal kicks to be 2 metres from the goal line and opposing players to retreat to the halfway line (5th/6th grade) or one third of the way back up the pitch (7th & 8th grade).
8. Goal kicks The offside rule will apply when it is viewed as intentional/blatant.
9. Ball out over side line: (i) 5th/6th grade – opposing side can pass or dribble the ball on from where it went out (ii) 7th & 8th grade – normal throw-in, which must be taken correctly (i.e. both feet on ground, ball
must be released from behind head). If incorrect, the player will be asked to re-take.
10. Corners: (i) 5th/6th grade – no corners will be taken (ii) 7th & 8th grade – corners are taken.
11. Boots and shin pads must be worn by all players.
12. Timekeeping will be done by hooter (at Becroft Park). No other timekeeping will be recognised. Therefore please have your teams organized and ready to kick off at the designated start time.
13. No spectators between adjacent fields as there is no space between fields (against NSCC rules and restrictions).
14 (i) The “home” team is the first team mentioned in the draw. (ii) In case of clash of colours, the “away” team will wear bibs/change. (Bibs will be provided by the
club.)
15. No more than one adult representing each team to be on the field of play.
16. While parents, etc. are encouraged to provide vocal support to their child and their team, there will be zero tolerance for abuse of players or the referees.
17. There will be zero tolerance for dangerous or overly aggressive or physical play by children
18. Size 3 balls will be used.
19. The referee's decision is final apart from the timekeeping. |
