Harbour Sport October Volunteer of the Month – a Forrest Hill Milford United Football Club Volunteer!

This month’s edition of the Volunteer of the Month saw an outstanding nomination.

Dave Crombie volunteers for Forrest Hill Milford United Football Club. Dave has filled most roles at the Club over the past 10 years. He has been a Junior Coach, Junior Team Manager, Grade Convenor, Junior Chair, Senior Men’s Football Portfolio owner and now Club Chairman. Dave contributes a huge amount more outside of his governance role. He is at the club seven days a week helping rope grounds, locking up goals, putting up signs, sweeping out sheds, coning off the car park, carrying out Public Address duties for the 1st team games. No job is too menial for him. His contribution to the Club is huge and he is not paid a cent to do this.

Dave has made a huge difference through his efforts. The Club’s junior numbers grew under his term as Junior Chair and then as Senior Football Portfolio owner the Men’s 1st team gained promotion 2 years in a row to NRFL Premier Division. As Club Chairman Dave lives the Club’s mantra of “one Club, many teams” by getting out and supporting all teams across the Club. Volunteers are the blood stream of community sport and Dave is testament to that. His dedication and work ethic without reward is outstanding!

Harbour Sport seeks to recognise the tens of thousands of sport volunteers who literally make sport happen throughout our Auckland Communities. This award would not exist without those that recognise their efforts and nominate them.
